Platform selection
Learning-management recommendations
No platform has been selected. Three options fit the program's size, security needs, and content-ownership requirements — evaluated on affordability, scalability, mobile access, reporting, payment integration, ease of administration, and ownership of your educational content and student records.
Fastest, lowest-effort launch
Teachable or Thinkific
Hosted course platform with built-in payments, drip content, quizzes, and certificates. Lowest administrative burden. Content is exportable, but the student database and page structure live on their platform.
Maximum ownership and control
LearnDash on WordPress
Runs on hosting you own, so course content, student records, and analytics stay entirely under your control. Deeper reporting and gradebook features. Requires maintenance, backups, and security management.
Most academic rigor at low license cost
Moodle (self-hosted or MoodleCloud)
Strongest examination engine, competency tracking, attendance, and cohort reporting. Open source, so content and records are fully yours. Steeper administrative learning curve; payment integration needs a plugin.
Pending your decisions
- Learning-management platform selection
- Payment processor (Stripe is recommended; PayPal optional)
- Tuition, payment plans, and refund policy
- Student privacy, records-retention, and acceptable-use policies
- Whether enrollment opens before or with the site launch
